These Rental Terms & Conditions apply to all equipment rented from 2Wheels1Lane (“2Wheels1Lane”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
By submitting a rental request, accepting a rental offer or making payment, the customer (“you” or “the renter”) confirms that they have read and accepted these Rental Terms & Conditions.
1. Rental eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a contract.
You must provide complete and accurate contact, billing and delivery information.
Rentals are subject to availability and approval. We may decline or cancel a rental request before shipment where payment, identity, address or availability cannot be confirmed.
2. Rental confirmation
Submitting a rental request does not automatically guarantee a reservation. The rental becomes binding once:
- We approve your request.
- You receive written confirmation.
- The required payment has been successfully completed.
The confirmed rental dates, rental fee, delivery costs and refundable deposit will be shown in your rental confirmation.
3. Rental price and security deposit
Once your rental request is approved, you will be charged the full retail value of the rented product as a refundable security deposit.
The security deposit is not a purchase payment and does not transfer ownership of the product to you.
After the product has been returned and inspected, we will refund the amount paid, minus:
- The agreed rental fee.
- Outbound delivery costs.
- Any unpaid extension or late-return charges.
- Reasonable cleaning, repair or replacement costs.
- The value of missing parts or accessories.
- Any other amount properly due under these terms.
4. Ownership
All rented products and accessories remain the exclusive property of 2Wheels1Lane throughout the rental period.
You may not sell, pledge, sub-rent, lend, modify or otherwise transfer the rented product to another person without our prior written permission.
5. Rental period
The rental period begins one calendar day after the product is delivered to you.
The rental period ends on the day you hand the complete return shipment to the post office, courier or other return carrier.
You must retain the dated return receipt or other proof showing when the parcel was handed to the carrier.
Delivery and return-transit time are not counted as rental days, provided the product is returned on time in accordance with these terms.
6. Delivery
We will send the product to the delivery address confirmed in your rental booking.
Estimated delivery dates are not guaranteed. We are not responsible for reasonable delays caused by carriers, customs, weather, strikes, border controls or other circumstances outside our control.
You must inspect the parcel promptly after delivery and notify us if:
- The parcel appears damaged or opened.
- Any item is missing.
- The product is damaged.
- The product cannot be used safely.
Where possible, your notification should include photographs or video of the parcel, labels, packaging and product.
7. Use and care of the product
You must:
- Use the product only for its intended camping purpose.
- Follow all supplied instructions and safety information.
- Use reasonable care when setting up, using, packing and transporting it.
- Protect it from fire, fuel, oil, sharp objects, theft and avoidable weather damage.
- Ensure it is dry before packing whenever reasonably possible.
- Stop using it immediately if it appears unsafe or seriously damaged.
You must not:
- Use open flames, cooking appliances or heaters inside the tent.
- Smoke or vape inside the tent.
- Alter, cut, repair or modify the product without permission.
- Use the product for commercial hire or resale.
- Use it unlawfully or recklessly.
- Continue using it where doing so may cause additional damage.
8. Outdoor-use risks
Camping and outdoor activities involve inherent risks, including changing weather, wind, rain, cold, heat, terrain and incorrect setup.
You are responsible for choosing a suitable and lawful camping location, checking weather conditions and ensuring the product is correctly installed and secured.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by mandatory law.
9. Condition at the start of the rental
Products may show minor signs of previous normal use. We may photograph or record the product and its accessories before shipment to document their condition.
You must report any existing significant damage or missing items promptly after delivery.
10. Return obligations
You must return all supplied items, including:
- The rented product.
- The transport bag.
- Poles and pegs.
- Mattress or bedding.
- Covers and accessories.
- Any other items listed in your rental confirmation.
The product must be securely packed and returned in substantially the same condition in which it was supplied, allowing for reasonable wear from normal use.
11. Return shipping and responsibility
Return shipping is arranged and paid for by you unless we agree otherwise in writing.
We highly recommend using a reputable, tracked and adequately insured shipping service.
You remain the responsible party for the rented product until the complete return shipment has been delivered back to us.
Handing the parcel to a post office or carrier ends the rental period, but it does not transfer responsibility for loss or damage during return transit to us.
If the return shipment is delayed, lost or damaged in transit, you are responsible for dealing with the carrier and making any available insurance claim.
12. Late returns
The product must be handed to the return carrier no later than the final agreed rental day.
If the product is handed over late, we may charge an additional rental fee for each started late day at the applicable daily rental rate.
Rental extensions are valid only after written approval from 2Wheels1Lane.
13. Damage and missing items
Reasonable signs of ordinary camping use are accepted and will not normally result in additional charges.
Chargeable damage may include:
- Tears, cuts, holes or burns.
- Broken or bent poles caused by incorrect use.
- Damaged zippers caused by force or misuse.
- Fuel, oil or chemical contamination.
- Mold caused by avoidable improper storage.
- Unauthorized alterations or repairs.
- Missing accessories.
- Damage caused by failure to follow instructions.
We may deduct reasonable cleaning, repair or replacement costs from the deposit.
14. Cleaning
Normal outdoor dirt is expected.
Additional cleaning charges may apply where the product is returned with excessive mud, food residue, smoke odor, pet hair, fuel, oil, mold, bodily fluids or other contamination requiring extensive or specialist cleaning.
15. Lost, stolen or irreparably damaged products
You must notify us immediately if the product is lost, stolen or seriously damaged.
You may be responsible for the reasonable replacement value of a product that is not returned, lost, stolen or damaged beyond economical repair while under your responsibility.
16. Inspection and refund
Returned products are normally inspected within five business days after delivery to us.
The remaining refundable amount will normally be issued within ten business days after inspection is completed.
Refund processing times after issuance depend on your bank or payment provider.
17. Cancellation by the customer
You may cancel without a rental charge before the product has been shipped, unless a specific non-refundable service or special arrangement has already begun with your agreement.
Once the product has shipped, delivery costs and services already performed may be deducted, subject to mandatory consumer law.
18. Cancellation by 2Wheels1Lane
We may cancel a rental before shipment if:
- The product becomes unavailable.
- The previous renter returns it late or damaged.
- Payment cannot be confirmed.
- The delivery information is incomplete.
- We reasonably suspect fraud or misuse.
- Circumstances outside our control prevent fulfilment.
Where we cancel and cannot offer a suitable alternative, the amount paid for the cancelled rental will be refunded.
19. Product failure during the rental
You must contact us as soon as reasonably possible if the product develops a defect during normal use.
You must not arrange a repair or replacement without our written approval, except where immediate action is necessary to prevent injury or additional damage.
20. Liability
We are liable in accordance with applicable mandatory law.
To the extent legally permitted, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, including missed reservations, accommodation costs, lost income, interruption of a trip or loss caused by weather, unsafe locations, misuse or failure to follow instructions.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
21. Insurance
The rental price does not include personal travel insurance, accident insurance, theft insurance or insurance for personal belongings.
You are responsible for checking whether your insurance covers rented outdoor equipment, theft, transport damage and third-party liability.
22. Personal data
We process personal data required to manage rental requests, payments, delivery, returns, customer support, fraud prevention and legal obligations. Further information is provided in our Privacy Policy.
23. Communications
Rental confirmations, notices and approvals may be provided by email or another written electronic communication channel used between you and us.
24. Changes to these terms
The version accepted when your rental is confirmed applies to that rental. Changes will apply only to future rentals unless otherwise required by law or agreed by both parties.
25. Severability
If any provision is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective.
26. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Rental Terms and the rental agreement are governed by Swiss law.
The courts at our registered business location in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, shall have jurisdiction to the extent legally permitted. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
